History
Thorns Primary school is a Group 2 Community Primary built in the 1960s to serve a new housing estate. It is situated in the south west corner of the West Midlands conurbation in the area traditionally known as The Black Country.
The school is a smaller than average single form entry with (currently) 195 pupils on roll across the 4-11 age range with single aged classes throughout. Individual year groups vary considerably in size and composition.
The school serves six wards with the majority of children attending from Lye, Wollescote, Quarry Bank and Amblecote and comes under Dudley MBC.
